This 4 week class focuses exclusively on the tradition of portraiture in oil painting. Students will paint from direct observation of a live model. We will discuss formal issues such as composition, form, proportion and handling of materials with a particular emphasis on light and color. In addition to studio work, critiques are offered on both an individual and group basis.
Students will be required to work in oil and should have a basic understanding of oil painting as a prerequisite to the course.

Exhibiting artist Lillia Frantin will begin her special four-day workshop with a demonstration of painting from the still-life. Lillia will share the process and approach she has developed over the years that she calls "Romantic Expressionism," incorporating vivid color and expressive brush and paint handling. Using the still-life as a springboard, Lillia welcomes new and seasoned painters to the workshop who are interested in trying fresh approaches to color, drawing and composition.
The 4-day program cost is $140. Registration required.
